Wow. Fall is here. That means we made it through three calendar seasons, and one of the toughest life seasons we've experienced. Too, Miss Evie is nine months old today. What, what?!?!? Oh sweet time, I beg of you, please slow
down!
It’s been awhile since I’ve posted an update, so I figured that for the many of
you who so kindly continue to ask us how she’s doing, here ya’ go:
Everly is doing GREAT. While she still uses a special bottle to
drink, she is eating baby food like a champ, and gaining weight at a speed that
only her mother could match. Her crawl
understandably requires quite the energy stores though, as she throws her
entire body forward, picks herself back up, then throws herself forward
again. She giggles for fun, and smiles
at strangers in a way that you’d think they were long lost friends. The only detectable delay right now is her
speech. While most babies this age would
be saying ‘pa, da, and ta’ Evie is fairly limited to just grunting and making
‘mmm’ noises as they don’t require use of her palate. Her therapist believes she’s trying to say
the harder consonants, but her soft palate isn’t creating enough pressure, and
thus, everything comes out as a ‘mmm’ sound.
Overall though, considering where we were at nine, eight, even seven
months ago, it’s astounding how well she’s able to function now! We’re so
ridiculously proud of this little lady, whose resilience we expect to continue
through the challenges that still lie ahead.
Everly’s favorite things at 9 months old:
-Playing with hangers
-Unpacking boxes (can you tell we just moved?)
-Having her teeth brushed
-Eating pickles
"Can you even believe my mom took me to Target in my jammies?! How embarrassing!"
The Crawl
If cucumbers are good for around the eyes, then pickles are too, right?!
"I don't think Daddy really wanted all his stuff in the shelves anyway!"
So ladylike...
Evie loves swinging in the sun!
